Materials:

Unlike other molded shell chairs, which usually come on a wood or metal base, the base of Social® is fully molded. Each molded part contains 55-75% post-consumer polypropylene (PP). The recycled PP comes mainly from European household waste, discarded film and other plastic-based materials. The molding process works by mixing recycled PP and glass fiber into a large injection molding machine that creates mold under high pressure. Special gas-blowing technology makes a hollow core in the mold, significantly reducing material use while upholding strength and durability.

Social® is lightweight and easy to move around, thanks to its hollow but sturdy base. To achieve extra durability, both the shell and base have been reinforced with glass fiber. The shell’s tactile, velvet-like texture prevents sliding when you sit while making the chair easier to grab when you wish to move it.
