Liss

Liss

Danish quartet Liss were just teenagers when they first gained international acclaim with their debut single in 2015. The band, led by lead singer Soren Holm’s unique voice, offers a grungy take on R&B, soul, and alternative pop. These days, they can be spotted in and out of their Vesterbro studio, including a weekly stop by bass player Villads’ place for a tranquil moment in Gravity™.

How do your surroundings affect your creative process when creating music?
It really has a significant impact on us. The feel of a place or environment always becomes a part of the sound we’re creating. It’s funny when we occasionally listen back to old demos, the place we did them, and how we felt at that moment in time, are always some of the first things that come to mind.

Where are you currently working and creating?
At the moment we are working from our studio at Vesterbro, Copenhagen. This is a great place for us to concentrate on finishing our music. Here we have more of a 9-5 kind of workflow. When we’re writing new stuff, we usually go to the countryside. Where we can work more freely with no distractions from the outside world. It’s the best of both worlds.

Where is your Gravity chair placed and how do you use it in your every day?
The Gravity chair is currently placed at Villads’, the bass player’s apartment. Our studio room is unfortunately just too tiny for the big beauty. But we have our weekly stop-by at Villads’ just to sit in the Gravity.

What were your initial thoughts when you saw the chair for the first time?
WOOOUAAWW!?! This is some futuristic stuff! Every time a new person sees the chair they’re like “WTF” and want to investigate all its features. It is really a fantastic chair if you’re into furniture out of the ordinary.

What were your initial thoughts when you first tried it and has your perception of using the chair changed over time in any sense?
At first you get a bit overwhelmed by its appearance, but after getting to know it you quickly realize how amazing it is. It really does feel like you lose the sense of gravity and that you’re just floating around in outer space. Ergonomically it’s pure joy, especially for your back after a whole day in front of the computer.
