Varier recently traveled to North Carolina to visit the SOAR Academy, which serves youth and young adults with ADHD and other learning disabilities. SOAR has been using the Move™ active seating/ standing stool in their active classrooms as they needed a seating solution that would allow their students movement.
The students and administrators are thrilled at the difference that the Move sit-stand stool has made since they started using it earlier this year.
Check out the video and see what they had to say.
Varier: Active Seating for Active Bodies.
Move
The versatile Move activity stool is the perfect chair for you at the breakfast counter, desk, table, or even while painting or playing the piano. Truly intuitive, the Move sit-stand chair has a slightly rounded base, which tilts the chair in smooth, gentle movements. The cushion ergonomic seat supports an upright, dynamic posture, which activates and strengthens core muscles in the abdomen and back. With feet placed on the floor, it’s easy to balance and stabilize, tilt, pivot, rotate, and swivel 360°. The open angle between the upper and lower body improves circulation, boosting energy levels and concentration.
Variable Balans
Variable™ balans® is the kind of kneeling chair that quickly grows on you. After you’ve sat on it for a few days, you’ll never want to go back to the old way of sitting. Designed by Peter Opsvik in 1979, the Variable™ balans® is the original kneeling chair. A Varier classic, the seat gently tilts the pelvis forward and encourages a natural, dynamic, and upright spine. The muscles in the abdomen and back engage to keep the spine upright and the body balanced, which strengthens core muscles and prevents back and shoulder tension. The angle between the upper and lower body increases, greatly improving circulation. As the body moves from an active to a relaxed posture, the flexible runners respond with a gentle pendular motion.
